Rami Boutros of University of Iowa Healthcare was also on hand at Thursday’s media event to offer additional insight into UIHC’s development at the Iowa River Landing expected to open in the fall of 2012.

Boutros confirmed that general internal medicine and general pediatrics, including specialty services, would be relocating to the new facility at the Iowa River Landing when it opens in 2012. In addition, new programs being added to the new UIHC facilities include cardiology, gastroenterology, women’s health, women’s wellness (psychiatry), surgery, diabetes center, and cardiac rehabilitation.

Other services will include radiology such as general x-ray, mammography, ultrasound, bone density testing, laboratory testing, CT scans, MRI, and numerous others.

Boutros also stated that the new clinic will be both patient and visitor-focused as well as easy to navigate, noting that the new facility has been designed with input from patients. Patient focus was one of the key reasons UIHC decided on building a facility at the Iowa River Landing, with its easy access to Interstate 80.
