The City of Coralville and developer OliverMcMillan today announced that Von Maur will be the retail anchor of the Iowa River Landing, an open-air, mixed use development in Coralville, Iowa. The announcement was made at a media event at the Iowa River Landing site.

Von Maur joins the 180-acre development located at the intersection of Interstate-80 (Exit 242) and First Avenue. “We look forward to anchoring the retail Main Street of the Iowa River Landing and are excited to be moving forward with plans for an 80,000 square-foot store that we expect to open within the next 18 months,” said Jim Von Maur, President of Von Maur.

“The Iowa River Landing provides us with all the key elements that are critical to our success in today’s retail environment: excellent interstate visibility, easy access and convenient parking. We are excited about bringing an expanded Von Maur experience to the area.”

Iowa River Landing is being developed on a former industrial site and will feature a 150,000 square-foot University of Iowa Health Care facility. The new patient- and visitor-focused facility is set to focus on general internal medicine and general pediatrics, and will offer a wide variety of program services. Other businesses confirmed as part of the Iowa River Landing include a 100-room Homewood Suites, and a 15,000 square-foot brewing manufacturer, Backpocket Brewing.

“We are excited to be putting together a development that will bring a strong, unique mix of retailers and entertainment experiences that will continue to provide great reasons for visitors to come to the area. Von Maur, the University of Iowa Medical Clinics and the restaurant and retail offerings will make Iowa River Landing an attraction to visitors from across the entire state,” said Mayor Jim Fausett.
