During the same Chamber of Commerce luncheon, representatives of the University of Iowa Health Care’s Iowa River Landing Clinic announced updates related to the expansion of their facilities’ 4th and 5th floors.

As part of these renovations, UI Health Care is adding a procedure suite with five procedure rooms, four of which will be operational. The procedure suite will have private pre- and post-procedure rooms and a separate lobby area for family members. The second part of the build out will add an additional 40 exam rooms to the 4th and 5th floors, bringing the total number of exam rooms up to 140. When this expansion is finished, the building will be complete.

The primary procedure to be done at UI Health Care Iowa River Landing will be screening colonoscopies. The new procedure rooms will be designed with the flexibility to accommodate outpatient procedures that may be performed at this location in the future by Cardiology (Vascular), Urology, Ophthalmology, and Gynecology. The additional exam rooms will enable expansion of Cardiology, Urology, Internal Medicine, Diabetes, Endocrine, Digestive Disease (GI) and other Surgery Specialty areas.

After this latest expansion, daily patient volume is expected to be between 600 and 800 per day. Currently the IRL clinic is between 500 to 600 patients per day.

An early 2015 open house will be planned prior to the space being operational. For more information, please visit http://www.uihealthcare.org/irl/.
